Thomas L. Erpelding, CPA

Thomas L. Erpelding, CPA, is the managing partner of the firm he started in 1974. Tom manages the firm's personnel function, controls practice development and professional staff training, is active in the firm's financial and tax services, and facilitates the firm's mission of providing high quality professional service, maintaining high professional standards and contributing hard work and performance to our clients and to the firm.

He is also an Investment Advisor Representative.

Tom graduated from Mankato Commercial College with a degree in Accounting. After being employed by a local firm for six years, Tom became a sole practitioner for five years before forming the firm that is today known as Erpelding, Voigt, & Co., L.L.P.

He is active in numerous community, civic, and professional organizations. He was appointed by Governor Branstad to the Iowa Board of Accountancy where he previously served two three-year terms.

James R. Voigt, CPA

James R. Voigt, CPA, has been with the firm since 1977 and became a partner in 1979. Jim is in charge of the firm's marketing, strategic planning, and financial services. He is active in the firm's tax services, particularly with clients in the pork industry.

Jim is also an Investment Advisor Representative, a Registered Representative with a Series 6 and 63, and holds a life, health, and accident insurance license.

He is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. After serving in the United States Army, he was employed by a regional firm for three years before joining EV&Co.

He is active in volunteer, community, and professional organizations.

Roger D. Nerdig, CPA

Roger D. Nerdig, CPA, joined the firm in 1978 and became a partner in 1985. Roger is involved with tax and financial planning services, provides management consulting services, monitors staff continuing professional education requirements, and coordinates the firm's peer review.

He is also an Investment Advisor Representative, a Registered Representative with a Series 6 & 63, and holds a life, health, and accident insurance license.

Roger graduated from Waldorf College with an Associate of Arts degree and graduated Cum Laude from Wartburg College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Business Administration.

He is an active member in numerous community, charitable, and professional organizations.

Jerry D. Brown, CPA

Jerry D. Brown, CPA, joined EV&Co. in 1981 and became a partner in 2002. Jerry is involved with financial services, individual and corporate income tax preparation, financial statement preparation, and provides our clients with setup and support for Quicken and QuickBooks accounting software systems.

Jerry is also an Investment Advisor Representative, a Registered Representative with a Series 6 and 63, and holds a life, health, and accident insurance license.

Although Jerry is primarily in the Algona office, he also facilitates our Buffalo Center, Iowa office every Wednesday, and also on Fridays from January through April 15.

He is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.

Jerry is very involved with numerous community, civic, charitable, and professional organizations and enjoys being an active member and officer of the Algona Cornbelt Chorus.

Geri A. Kohlhaas, CPA

Geri A. Kohlhaas, CPA, joined EV&Co. in 1989 and became a partner in 2002. Geri is involved in individual, corporate, and payroll tax services, estate planning, business start up and general business consulting services. She also prepares financial statements and works with clients in various financial services, primarily with personal financial planning.

Geri is also an Investment Advisor Representative, holds a life, health, and accident insurance license, and is a Registered Representative with a Series 6, and 63.

Geri is the facilitating partner of our Humboldt office. She is in the Algona office upon appointment.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Iowa Lakes Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting.

Geri is active in various community, charitable, and professional organizations.

Jeffrey G. Knapp, CPA

Jeffrey G. Knapp, CPA, has been with EV&Co. since 2000 and became a partner in 2002. Jeff has been in public accounting since 1994 and is involved with financial services, facilitates financial statement quality control and assists with business development and strategic planning.

Jeff is also an Investment Advisor Representative, a Registered Representative with a Series 6 and 63, and holds a life, health, and accident insurance license.

Jeff serves as managing partner of our Iowa Great Lakes office in Okoboji. He is available in the Algona office by appointment.

He graduated from North Iowa Area Community College and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.

Jeff is active in community, civic, and professional organizations.

Jenna M. Becker

Jenna Becker joined EV&Co.’s Okoboji professional staff in 2008. Jenna is involved in individual and corporate income tax, payroll tax, as well as financial statement and client compilation preparation.

Jenna received her Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University where she double majored in Accounting and Finance.

Christie S. Berte, CPA

Christie S. Berte, CPA, joined the firm's professional staff in 1995. Christie is involved in individual and corporate tax services, with emphasis in multiple state returns.

Christie graduated from Des Moines Area Community College with an Associate in Arts - Liberal Arts degree and also graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.

She is active in community and professional organizations. Christie is not in our office during the summer months while she manages the Spring Valley Golf Course, which she and her husband own and operate.

Jill M. Book

Jill M. Book joined EV&Co. in 2006 as a member of the professional staff. Jill is involved with individual and corporate income tax, as well as payroll tax return preparation, financial statement preparation and assists our clients with compilation services.

Jill studied accounting at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines after graduating from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1994. In 2004 she received her Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Briar Cliff University.

Jill lives in Whittemore with her husband, Shannon, and their four daughters. She is an active volunteer with church, school and charitable organizations including the Scrip program at Bishop Garrigan Schools in which she is the co-coordinator.

Carolyn C. Butterworth

Carolyn C. Butterworth joined EV&Co. in 2005 and is currently a member of the professional staff in our Iowa Great Lakes office in Okoboji. Carolyn is involved with individual and corporate income tax preparation, payroll tax return preparation and assists our clients with bookkeeping services.

Carolyn graduated cum laude from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN with a degree in mathematics. She has 20 years of experience in income tax, joining our team from Wallace Income Services.

Carolyn is active in church and community activities.

Mary Dunscombe

Mary Dunscombe joined EV&Co. in 2009 and is currently a member of the professional staff working in the Humboldt office.  Mary performs individual and corporate income tax, as well as payroll tax return preparation and financial statement preparation.
Mary graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.

Mary is very active in her church, St. Mary’s in Humboldt, and with her three children’s activities.

Melanie K. Filloon

Melanie K. Filloon joined the in 2005 and is currently a member of the professional staff. Melanie is involved with individual and corporate income tax, as well as payroll tax return preparation, financial statement preparation and assists our clients with compilation services.  Melanie also provides numerous support functions for our firm.

Melanie graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College with an Associate in Arts degree in business and also is currently attending Briar Cliff University to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.

Debra L. Gerhart

Debra L. Gerhart joined EV&Co. in 1978 and is currently a member of the professional staff. Deb is involved with individual and corporate income tax, as well as payroll tax return preparation, auditing, financial statement preparation, and assists our clients with compilation services. She is the administrator of the firm's computer network and is in charge of computer maintenance and software implementation and upgrades.

Deb attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated from Mankato Commercial College with a degree in Accounting.

She is active in various community, school, and church organizations.

Sharon M. Goche, CPA

Sharon M. Goche, CPA, joined the firm's professional staff in 1993. Sharon is involved in tax services, with emphasis on individual and corporate income tax and payroll tax returns, and financial statement preparation, assists our clients with compilation services, and provides our clients with support for Quicken and QuickBooks accounting software systems.

Sharon graduated Summa Cum Laude from Iowa Lakes Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Briar Cliff College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Business Administration.

She is active in various community, charitable, and professional organizations.

Abby M. Langenwalter

Abby M. Langenwalter joined EV&Co. in January of 2008 as a member of the firm’s professional staff. Abby is involved with individual and corporate income tax, as well as payroll tax return preparation, financial statement preparation and assisting our clients with compilation services.

Abby graduated from Algona High School in 2004 and went on to study both Finance and Management at Waldorf College in Forest City, IA. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Waldorf with a Bachelor of Arts degree in December of 2007.

Sherill R. Meinders, CPA

Sherill R. Meinders, CPA, joined EV&Co. in 1983 and is currently a member of the professional staff. Sherill performs individual and corporate income tax, as well as payroll tax return preparation and financial statement preparation. She assists with computer maintenance, software implementation and upgrades, and monitors the electronic return process.

She graduated from North Iowa Area Community College and then the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.

Sherill is active in charitable and professional organizations. She is not in the office during the summer months while she assists her husband with their grain and livestock farming operation.

Kim T. Miller, CPA

Kim T. Miller, CPA, joined the firm's professional staff in 1996. Kim is involved with individual and corporate income tax, as well as payroll tax return preparation, financial statement preparation, assists our clients with compilation services, and provides our clients with support for Quicken and QuickBooks accounting software systems.

Kim graduated with honors from Waldorf College with an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting and graduated Cum Laude from Buena Vista University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.

She is a member of various professional organizations.

Jodi Reekers

Jodi Reekers joined EV&Co. in 2007 as a member of the professional staff.  Jodi is located at the Humboldt office where she is involved in individual and corporate income tax, payroll tax returns, financial statement preparation, and assisting clients with compilation services.

Jodi received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Buena Vista University where she double majored in Accounting and Business Management.

Brian L. Sohn, CPA, CFP®

Brian L. Sohn, CPA, joined EV&Co.’s Okoboji professional staff in 2007. Brian is involved with all aspects of income tax, personal financial planning, and financial statement preparation. Prior to joining EV&Co., Brian worked for a regional public accounting firm and a public reporting company.

Brian is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. He is also an Investment Advisor Representative, a Registered Representative with a Series 6 and 63, and holds a life, health, and accident insurance license.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree (Cum Laude) from Buena Vista University where he double majored in Accounting and Finance & Banking with an Economics minor.

Brian’s professional affiliations include the AICPA and the Iowa Society of CPAs. He is involved in community, civic, and professional organizations.

Barbara A. Thompson, CPA

Barbara A. Thompson joined EV&Co. in November of 2006 as a member of the firm's professional staff. Barb is involved in the preparation of individual and corporate income tax returns, payroll tax returns, and financial statements, as well as assisting our clients with compilation services.

Barb has a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from North Park University and graduated with honors from Buena Vista University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.

Elizabeth E. Tonsfeldt

Elizabeth E. Tonsfeldt joined EV&Co. in 2005 and is currently a member of the professional staff in our Iowa Great Lakes office in Okoboji. Betsy is involved with individual income tax preparation and payroll tax return preparation.

Betsy has 16 years experience in the financial arena, five of which have been in the Spirit Lake office, joining our team from Wallace Income Services. She has served as a financial counselor, loan processor, quality control advisor, tax preparer, tax office manager and master trainer.

Betsy graduated from Iowa State University and is involved in community, educational, youth serving and church activities.

Shannon L. Trunkhill, CPA

Shannon L. Trunkhill, CPA, has been with the professional staff at EV&Co. since 1997. Shannon is involved with individual and corporate income tax, as well as payroll tax return preparation, financial statement preparation, computer maintenance and software implementation, assists our clients with compilation services, and provides our clients with support for Quicken and QuickBooks accounting software systems.

Shannon received the highest CPA exam scores for the state of Iowa upon taking the November 1999 exam. She was honored with several prestigious awards including the Outstanding Candidate in Iowa from the Iowa Accountancy Examining Board, the Gold Award from the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants, and was recognized as having scored as one of the top 120 candidates in the nation. She graduated from Truman State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

She is active in various community, charitable, and professional organizations and enjoys coaching the local high school softball team.

Julie K. Elbert

Julie K. Elbert joined EV&Co. in 1994 as a member of the support staff. She took a leave from the firm in 1997 to have twins. She returned in 2004 and is currently in charge of overseeing the firm’s Asset Management Program along with numerous other administrative duties.

Julie is involved with various community, charitable and professional organizations.

Judy A. Jensen

Judy joined the firm’s support staff in the Okoboji office in August of 2006.

Judy comes to the firm after 18 years of serving children and teachers at the Spirit Lake Elementary School as a Para educator and computer lab manager.

She is an involved member of her church and its ministries. She enjoys participating in community activities, especially events associated with the Iowa Great Lakes Trails Association and Alzheimer’s Association.

Stacie L. Langerman

Stacie L. Langerman joined the firm's support staff in 1993. Stacie is responsible for the firm's accounting and coordinates the collection and processing of client billings and receivables. She also assists our tax services team in the preparation of personal income tax and payroll tax returns as well as performing numerous support functions for our firm.

Stacie attended Winona State University and Iowa Lakes Community College.

Michelle A. Nielsen

Michelle A. Nielsen joined the firm's support staff in 2002. Michelle is located in our Humboldt office and is responsible for the firm's accounting and coordinates the collection and processing of client billings and receivables. She also prepares payroll tax returns and is involved with income tax return reproduction as well as performing numerous support functions for our firm.

Michelle attended Spencer College of Business and is involved with various community, charitable, and professional organizations.

Angela J. Thompson

Angela J. Thompson joined EV&Co. in 2008 as a member of the support staff.  She will be responsible for numerous administrative duties, as well as overseeing the insurance program.

Angela lives in West Bend with her 11 year old son.
