We are pleased to announce that Brian L. Sohn, CPA has recently been notified by the national Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. of successfully passing the CFP® Certification Examination. The mission of CFP Board of Standards, Inc. is to benefit the public by granting this certification and upholding it as the recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning. As a professional regulatory organization acting in the public interest by fostering professional standards in personal financial planning, the CFP Board establishes and enforces education, examination, experience and ethics requirements for CFP® certificants. As a candidate for CFP® certification, Brian is committed to assisting clients to determine and attain their lifelong goals through personal financial planning. He will work with clients to minimize their tax liability while striving to preserve and grow wealth. 

We are pleased to announce that Jeff Knapp has been selected to receive the Iowa Society of CPAs’ Public Service award for 2010. This award was established in 1981 to honor Society members who, through their continuing involvement in charitable, professional, governmental, and/or other public service organizations, have made an outstanding contribution to the community and, at the same time, have enhanced the professional image of CPAs. Jeff has done a tremendous job of giving back to his community through numerous volunteer organizations. Congratulations, Jeff!

On November 12, 2009, Erpelding, Voigt and Co., L.L.P. held a client appreciation dinner in Algona. The event celebrated our 35th year in business as well as the admission of two new partners, Aaron Greteman and Thad Lichter, to the firm. Thank you to all who attended.

In late October and early November, all professional staff attended the “AICPA Federal Tax Update.” The seminar objective was to identify planning strategies and compliance actions resulting from the latest changes to federal tax status, regulations, cases and rulings.

On November 6, Jeff Knapp, Roger Nerdig and Christie Berte attended “Integrity – A Professional Quest To Do The Right Thing” in Spencer. The course explored how one’s personal and professional integrity is the defining factor in determining ethical action.
