On June 29, 2009, Brian Sohn attended Minnesota Society of CPAs sponsored “Advanced Update for Compilation, Review and Accounting Services” in Bloomington, MN. The presenter was Stephen W. Bodine, CPA of LarsenAllen. The seminar focused on the technical issues to consider during compilation and review engagements as well as a discussion of accounting changes on the horizon.

On June 8–9, 2009, Aaron Greteman and Thad Lichter attended the Iowa Society of CPAs “Technology Conference” in West Des Moines, Iowa. The two-day conference explored the current technology issues facing CPAs and their clients. A number of different presenters offered a variety of solutions to today’s accounting and income tax technology challenges.

On May 19–21, 2009, Tom Erpleding, Jim Voigt, Roger Nerdig, Jerry Brown, Geri Kohlhaas, Jeff Knapp, Aaron Greteman, Thad Lichter, and Brian Sohn attended the annual Honkamp Kruger Financial Services (HKFS) Investment Conference. The Conference was held over the course of three days and featured numerous local and national speakers on investment related topics. Again this year, Erpelding Voigt, & Co., L.L.P. was recognized as a Distinguished Trusted Advisor by HKFS.

The Humboldt EV&Co. team hosted an open house for their new building and new location at 422 Sumner Avenue – downtown Humboldt on Wednesday, January 7th from 4 until 6 p.m. The event featured a Humboldt Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. and tours of the new building. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres were served.

On November 12, Brian Sohn and Shannon Trunkhill attended the Iowa Society of CPAs seminar “Ethics:  The Role You Play!”  The presenter was Paul K. Johnson, CPA, MBA.  The seminar discussed the AICPA Code of Conduct, the process of ethical decision making, and corporate case studies.
